Day after Thanksgiving

I survived Thanksgiving. Everything was fine. We had plenty of food and nice deserts that Maria made (cookies and Coconut pie). Those cookies are addictive. I can't stop to eat them.
I made one cake with bananas.
Last year when I made my very first Thanksgiving dinner in USA I made cranberry sauce and I got addicted. First two years we were guests and I didn't have a chance to try home made sauce, so I decided to make it by myself. If you would like to try it you can find it here. It's simple, fast, and easy.
I have to admit that I don't understand why people love this holiday so much. It's nice to see family, it's nice to spend some time together... but do we really need so much food?
Yesterday, I got very tired and could't enjoy time with our friends as much as I wanted. After lunch somebody had to do dishes... guess who was that somebody? Yes, I have dishwasher, but everything was so dirty and greasy that was easier to handwash it.
My dear hubby and Tony played football with BB in our backyard, and after while he got tired. In combination with sleepieness at late afternoon we had hard time to please him. Maria and I did some crafts with him. He made turkey and name it Tom the Turkey. The hardest part was to say goodbay to Maria and Tony. BB cried so much that I almost cried with him.
I asked BB what for he is tankful? His answer was: for mommy, daddy, cookies, pancakes, trees and ladybugs.
I have plan to rest today. It would be better to say to knit, knit, knit...

One month later

It's almost a month from my last post. We moved in our new house, and we didn't have phone for more than two weeks. Squirrels ate phone wire and broke the line. They are such a big temptation. It took our phone provider some time to find where is the problem. Finally, we have internet again.
BB is very happy that we moved and he loves house. He loves to play hide-and-seak and now he has plenty of space for that. My DH enjoyes his working space in the basement, and I love my new kitchen, and craft room. Well, craft room is still empty, but one day will be a nice and cozy space. The only thing I don't like is dark green color of the walls in our living room.
I was busy with knitting these days. Last Wednesday I went on ABWA meeting and sold some things (better to say almost all :-) ) I made. It's very good feeling to get money for the work.

Last weekend BB and I went to visit The Royal Alpaca Challange. I am enchanted with alpacas. First time I had a chance to touch their fleece and I fell in love with it.... I didn't buy any yarn because I didn't have an idea what to make with it, but I got some contacts for future. What really surprised me was a price of single animal. Some of them were priced 25000.$. I spoke with one lady who told me that price depends of quality of fleece, but the best alpacas are from 18000.$ and up. She has 16 alpacas and will buy more. BB was impressed by them, and he wanted to take one for home.
In two days is Thanksgiving, and I'm getting ready for that day. Our friends Tony and Maria will celebrate with us. Last year, after five hours of cooking, I promissed to myself that I won't do that again, but it seem I got an amnesia.

Can't wait to move

Last few weeks we're very busy. I can't wait to move in our new house, but still don't think to start with packing... I have an idea that maybe is not so good , but I want to move without packing things in boxes. I would use plactic containers for pots, books, BB's clothes, small toys.... but most of things I have a plan to put in my Mazda and just move from one place to another. BB will be in the school 'til afternoon, so I have time to move most of small things by myself. Furniture will be my DH's job. We decided to move everything without calling anybody. Only person who will know that we are moving is our first neighbor. Our friends would like to help, but I know that would be to stressful for me. They like to celebrate everything, and I have to avoid any kind of party during that moving time. That doesn't mean that I don't want to have party after we move in. :-)
BB's speech therapy is going well. He loves lady that works with him, and I can see some improvements. He is very excited about Halloween. Next week they will have a Trick or Treat hunt in the school, and after that will be party for kids and parents. I have to start to work on his costume... It won't be hard to make it, and that is the reason why I didn't start yet.

Amazing week and weekend

This week was amazing... really amazing!
A week ago I went to my friend's house on jewelry party and I saw beautiful house that was on sale. Last Sunday we went to see it with our real estate agent, and same day we gave them an offer for the house. After two days seller answered that they won't accept our offer, and they said what is the lowest price that they will accept. We told to our agent that we will give them just 5000$ over our first price, so she placed our second offer. After two days (that was yesterday) they answered negative. We didn't want to raise our offer, so we told our agent that we are not interested for that house anymore.
Today (Saturday) we went on BB's gym class and on our back home my hubby got phone call from our agent. She said that seller decided to accept our offer, if we still want that house. Not just that, they will pay one part of our closing costs... That's amazing!
We were out all day. After gym class we went to McDonough on Southern Belle Farm. What can I say... we had a fun... lots o fun.
First we went to walk in corn maize, than we watched pig race.
My and BB's favoritewas one with a blue color on his back.
Later we drove cars that look like F1. That was very good exercise for mom and dad. BB had more energy than both of us together.
He met new girlfriend who tried to explain to him how to use lasso. She was more than patient, and she helped him few times before he finally got it.

Then, we went to see cotton field, and I took one cotton ball for souvenir. It's amazing how soft is cotton, and it's not processed. After walk we took ride in tractor wagon. That was really fun to all kids. After ride we were full of straw, and kids loved it.

On our back home we stopped to see house one more time, and signed bid contract. I still think that I dream, and somebody will come and wake me up. I'm so happy that I can't describe by words. House is not new, but we fall in love with it. Our friends live five houses from that house and it won't be hard for BB to get used to it with new neighborhood.

I found some UFO's that I started last fall and I decided to finish it. First project is BB's blanket and I'm making it from leftovers of Red Heart yarn. I've had one huge problem with both of my projects... I forgot what number of hook I used, so took me a while to find right hook. I learned a lesson! The other problem I have only with blanket... I won't have enough yarn that I'm using now, and there is no same shade in the stores anymore. I can find lighter or darker.... but no same shade, so I don't know what to do.

The second project is Halloween bag. I'm making it from bright orange yarn (Red Heart) and I have a plan to put huge fake spider as decoration, but it's seems that this bag will be finished after Halloween.

Still think about BB's costume for this Halloween... I'd like to make scarecrow from Wizard of Oz. I'm not sure is that good or bad idea. Last year he was an artist, year before Superman, and first year pumpkin. I do't want to buy costume, I like to make it by myself. I can't ask him because he wants something different every day. It will be cold, so I have a plan to use fleece for costume. Hope that will work well.

Speech therapy, BB's school and my expectations

Life is not easy, and it's not happening always what we want.
For a long time I had a feeling that BB has speach problems. I tried to make appointment last year, but speach therapist said that BB needs to speak English before his first check up. At that time he didn't speak English at all. Yesterday, we were at speech therapist's office. BB's speech development is behind of his age, and he needs help. He can't pronounce seven sounds and all blends. That is the reason why he doesn't speak well, and why nobody understand him except me and my husband. His English vocabulary is also behind his age, but I'm not surprised. We didn't speak English at home, so he wasn't picked up so many words like kids who speak only English. Therapist is not so worried about his vocabulary, as she is about pronunciation. He is doing some strange movement with his tongue when he is trying to say something. Hope she will be able to help him.
One of the reasons why we signed BB to school was English. Now, I have a feeling that they didn't help him as we hoped they will. Most of English words BB picked up from our neighbor Audra. She comes to our house every day, and BB likes to play and talk with her.
I think we have to wait for a while to see how much therapist will help BB, and than we have to decide will he stay at school or not. I'm not happy how they work with kids. Most of their day activities they do on the floor during the circle time. Teachers don't use hand puppets, felt boards, applications,... I offered them some of our hand puppets, and other materials that we use at home, but they we not interested. I understand that is hard for them to communicate with BB, but they should do more to get him involved in activities that call for use more of English. Last two weeks BB is refusing to go there. He is telling me that he is board and he doesn't like boy who is throwing toys arround the room. I spoke with some of my friends, and they think I should have lower expectations from teachers and school. They also think I'm hard mom, beacuse I want to know everything what they do, how they do... Maybe I really have a problem, but I don't see it as a problem?! What do you think?!
Anyhow, next Monday BB will starting with the speech therapy. His therapist called me this morning to schedule next visit.

P.S. If you see that some letters are missing in this post, just ignore it. I'm writting this post from our laptop, and it's works odd. My DH took it to work one day, and laptop fall off his table. For few weeks I couldn't even start it. DH tryed to fix it, and it seems he did something... just keyboard works strange.

Croatia

Every time when we go to Craoatia we have great time there, but when we back home we get sick. Two days after we came home my hubby got flu, than Big Boy got flu from him. Luckily I didn't get it. After they got well, BB started with his school and five days later he got Roseola and strep throat at the same time. That was killing combination, and for seven days and nights we couldn't sleep. That was real night mare. We lived in shifts of 3-4 hours. One of us would take care about BB and other one would try to sleep or rest. BB's fever was above 104.5 F (the highest was 105.8 F) for all seven days. I tried everything I knew to lower temperature but nothing worked. His peadiatrician was very worried because BB has a tendency to get extremly high fever.
Finally, after BB got well I got sick.... Yeeeaaahhh.... it was my turn.... I had a back pain, and it was so strong that I couldn't move, so I made terrible mistake and went to Emergency. I still don't know why I was so stupid.... probably beccause of pain. We were there for more than seven hours. Yes, that long and what they did - they checked my blood, urine, thay did cat scane, gave me Vicodin and let me go home.... after seven hours and thirty-seven minutes. It was Labor Day and at 8.00 PM I couldn't find farmacy opened to get my medicine. I should thanks to God to the rest of my life. Next day, I got my medicine, I took one and and bad reaction...very bad reaction. Same day I visited my gynecologist and she confirmed that my right ovarian is a beat incresed but she couldn't confirm that pain was because of ovarian cist. She scheduled me for ultrasound in October, and changed medicine that doctor gave me in ER a day before. At the and I went to our family doctor, and he found bladder infection. He was more than surprised that they didn't found anything before, so I got two new medicines and finally I'm getting better.
I promissed photos from Croatia:
First one from Zurich airoportVinkovci
Island Krk Smiljan

Sibenik

At the end - set that I made in Croatia.

Sometimes, I think I should stop to blogging. All my posts are about sickness, and that is sick.

We're back

Hello everybody! I hope you remember me.
We came back to the USA on Saturday evening. Our trips to Croatia and back to the USA were very good. We all had a great time in Croatia. My son finally started to speak Croatian. Now we have another problem - he doesn't want to speak English. He thinks that people understand him if he speaks Croatian beacuse he understand them when they speak English. O God, that is so confusing for him.
This vacation run away so fast. Me and my family went to Krk to meet Romantales and I'm so happy because of that. She is very nice lady and excellent cook. I was more than surprised when I saw how beauftiful and green is Krk. I didn't even think that they have so many wood there. I fall in love with that island. On our back to Trogir we visited Smiljan. My dear hubby's idol was born there. Gues who is that?
Few days later we went to Sibenik. There was an international children's festival . Unfortunately, I merited bad impression about people from Sibenik. We were looked for ice-cream shop and everybody that we asked for it was inhospitable. That is not good if they want to earn mony from turism. Finally, we found one and payed with kunas, but guy returned to us Bosnian money. I know that is simmilar like Croatian kunas, but where can I spend it in Croatia?.... Nowhere!! At the end I promissed to myself that I'll avoid that city in the future.
Two days after we came home in America my hubby got sick. We were affraid that he got swaine flu, but luckily he got normal flu. Today, PK said that he has headache, and now I have both of them in the bed with very high fever.
PK was so happy when we came home. He asked me 2937475869708737465 times: "Mommy, is this my America?" And he said at least same number of time:"I'm so happy here in my America.".... and you now what I think he is. He seems calm and happy.
I don't have a time to post photos now. I'll post it later.
